New Milton man, 35, jailed for shoplifting and breach of Criminal Behaviour Order

A man has been jailed for several offences following an incident at a Tesco Express store on Station Road, New Milton on Saturday 15 November.

The 35-year-old was imprisoned for 15 weeks after pleading guilty to shoplifting, breach of criminal behaviour order and possession of a controlled drug of Class B.

Speaking after the outcome at court, PC Tom Jelly, of New Milton neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I’m pleased for the store in question, as well as the wider business community here, that he has been held accountable for his actions.

"Retail crime remains one of our local priorities, in addition to all the other work that the team is dealing with on a daily basis.

“This case should once again demonstrate our commitment to seriously tackling shoplifting and drug offences across the New Forest.”
